MEET YOUR BIMWERX TEAM!

Great companies have great leaders. Our executive leadership team is always hands-on and in constant contact with our clients. We roll up our sleeves and WORK FOR YOU. That work ethic is what underpins BIMWERX and permeates the entire company, across the board.

Jason Matthews

President

After spending several years in the AEC industry and getting a better understanding of design and construction, Jason realized the dichotomy that existed between the two entities; that both sides needed to collaborate more extensively to achieve the goal of delivering a quality building more efficiently to the owner. Building Information Modeling (BIM) is the vehicle to facilitate a better product and experience for all involved.

As the founder and President of BIMWERX, Jason creates and manages all aspects of building information modeling (BIM), including modeling various trades, advising on constructability issues, and coordinating all building systems for our clients.

Jason began his formal training at the University of Florida, where he obtained his Bachelor of Design and Master of Architecture degrees. During his studies, Jason focused much of his attention on 3D modeling, renderings, and presentations, honing his skills each semester. He strived to go above and beyond to produce the most visually compelling content for his projects. During his graduate courses, Jason was fortunate to be asked to teach digital media as a GTA, effectively helping to pave the way for future students by expanding the “CAD Class” to include other forms of visual expression, including 3D Max, Premiere, Form-Z, Photoshop, and, of course, AutoCAD.

Before starting BIMWERX, Jason interned at an AE firm each summer, where he gained applicable knowledge of building structures and office standards. This invaluable experience, combined with his digital media competency, facilitated Jason’s first job out of college at one of the premier architecture firms in Jacksonville. During that tenure, he was able to work on many project types, including worship, hotels, office buildings, senior living facilities, and multifamily housing, as well as run his own projects. As the economic downturn approached, Jason began developing his knowledge of building information modeling and construction while serving as the BIM Manager at different architecture firms. Wanting to become even more well-rounded, Jason became the VDC manager for a large contractor, where he worked on both federal and private projects, gained a full understanding of contracts and construction processes, and became proficient at estimating and bidding.

Ramon Morales

VDC Plumbing Manager

After working several years in the AEC industry and getting a better understanding of design and construction, Ramon realized that BIM is becoming the standard in construction projects worldwide, and collaboration between designers and builders is paramount in achieving an efficient and quality building for the owner. Building Information Modeling (BIM) as a platform bridges the communication gaps between entities, which helps facilitate a better product and experience for all involved.

As the Lead Plumbing Coordinator for BIMWERX, Ramon creates and manages all aspects of building information modeling (BIM), including modeling various trades, advising on constructability issues, and coordinating all building systems for our clients.

Before starting BIMWERX, Ramon enlisted in the US Navy for 13 years. He deployed to Afghanistan, Yemen, and other countries while serving as a security consultant performing antiterrorism force protection and physical security. His attention to detail has transferred into the construction industry, where he has been part of many project types, including hotels, hospitals, multifamily housing, and other projects. Ramon began developing his knowledge of Building Information Modeling (BIM) while serving as BIM coordinator at different engineering firms throughout Florida.

Ramon earned his Bachelor of Science in Drafting and Design/Project Management from the Florida Institute of Technology and a Master’s in Construction Management from Southern New Hampshire University.

James Stephens

VDC Mechanical Manager

After completing five years of apprenticeship, gaining multiple certifications and licenses, and working for over two decades in the MEP trades as a Plumber, Pipefitter, Welder, and HVAC technician, James made the migration from field to office. While working for some of the largest mechanical contractors in the North Florida and New England area, he gained practical knowledge and experience in installing, repairing, and fabricating piping systems, plumbing, and HVAC.

Experience from years in the field became especially helpful as James became involved in the BIM coordination process. Having first-hand practical knowledge of what is required to fabricate and install MEP systems and project leadership, coupled with proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and other 3D CAD design software complete the well-rounded, diversified portfolio.
